St. Lawrence Land Trust Hart's Falls Bird Walk
Join the St. Laurence Land Trust on Saturday, June 27th from 7:30 - 10 am, as Dr. Tom Langen, Land Trust Co-President, will lead a bird walk at our Hart's Falls Preserve. The migrant birds are back, and the resident birds are very active. To ensure all can hear and see the birds, and the birds aren’t disturbed, the walk is limited to 15 people. Please e-mail the St. Lawrence Land Trust (stlawlandtrust@ stlawlandtrust.org) with your interest and how many will join.
North Country Plant Walk
Nature Up North is excited to invite you to a plant-themed walking tour of Heritage Park! Over the course of an hour, we'll explore all parts of the Heritage Park island in search of a variety of flowers, trees, shrubs, ferns, and more.
Guided by Summer Naturalists Cecily and Laine, we'll take advantage of low-stakes bingo cards to help guide our search of the island. Stop by at 4pm on Friday, June 26th to join in!
Insects are bird food tree swallow breakfast delivery
On my morning walk monitoring the activity of our bird boxes, I witnessed a meal delivery. I love having these happy birds nesting around our property.
Stoat in the grass
I was watering my garden when I spotted the stoat moving across the stone row. I have to say it is almost like they keep a calendar because I see the mother moving the young ones from one side of the property to the other each spring. I was happy to capture some photos.
Laine Stuard
Laine is a rising Senior from New York City born and raised. she’s majoring an Environmental Studies and Political Science. She also has a minor in studio art. She lives in the Greenhouse on campus which focuses on farm a table and local food systems. Besides living in the greenhouse, she works at the climbing wall and is a TA for stagecraft. She loves to be outdoors and loves chatting. She’s so excited to be here this summer.
Cecily Hansen
Cecily is a senior from Alexandria, Virginia majoring in Conservation Biology with a minor in Statistics. She enjoys rowing, snorkeling, hiking, and recently became interested in birding! She is very excited about the opportunity to spend the summer outdoors, learning about and connecting with nature.
Curious Mink
I took my usual morning walk with my camera and look who showed up for photos! This curious mink was first spotted on the same tree I last saw our local otter. As my camera clicked he got nearer. I was able to get some awesome shots in nearly perfect light. I think this guy knew it was Wildlife Wednesday and wanted to be Instagram famous!

I walk our property a few times a day this time of year looking for spring migrants. I spotted this magnolia warbler along the spruce row beside our orchard.

This time of year I am always looking for the spring arrivals. I heard the pretty calls of the Rose Breasted Grosbeak and spotted him hiding in the plum blossoms. What beautiful bird.
