Porcupine Tree!

Type: Animal Picture
Habitat Description: Forest with wetlands nearby. Mainly loosely forested plain with wetlands and bog nearby.
Natural History Information: While exploring the Kip Track and Wachtmeister Field House during lab we ran into an unlikely encounter. While exploring the nearby forest we ran into a porcupine in a tree. Porcupines are generally nocturnal but are occasionally active during the day. New world porcupines generally live in tree's whereas new world porcupines generally stay in rocks. Porcupines themselves are rodents with sharp quills that can protect them from there enemies.
Interest: What I found interesting about this photo is that porcupines spend time in trees. I had never seen a porcupine before in person so being able to document a single porcupine, let alone one in a tree hanging on a skinny branch, was a great experience.
