Natural History Information: It is called sugar island because of the extensive amount of sugar maples planted on the island. Originally created as a public outreach project by the hydroelectric company, it has turned into a community park. The system has 3 miles of four season trails. Ducks, minks, otters, turkey vultures, and blue herons have all been spotted here.
Interest: I was so drawn to this image because even in the warmer weather the snow still survived above the rushing water below. We can only hope the snow probably won't last much longer.
