Summer Campfire Series: Edible Plant Picnic
Campfire season is here! To kickoff our Summer Campfire Series we are having our first themed campfire: Edible Plant Picnic! Plan to gather at Wachtmeister Field Station on June 23rd from 7:00-9:00 pm for some campfire fun! We will spend about 30 minutes learning about some exciting edible plants in the North Country and then enjoy the fire and snack on some treats! Basic s'mores supplies will be provided, but be sure to bring your favorite (or weirdest) campfire snack or s'mores addition to try along with our edible plants.

Canoe believe it? Community paddles are back! Come join us for a relaxing evening on the Little River next Friday, June 17th for our first paddle of the season!

Cardboard Sled Building Workshop
Our 4th Annual Cardboard Sled Race is right around the corner, and we want to make sure you're ready for the coldest race in the North Country by hosting a sled building workshop! Join us this Saturday, January 29th at Wachtmeister Field Station to build a sled in time for the Winterfest races. All you need to bring is yourself, a mask, your creativity, and we'll provide the rest!
4th Annual Winterfest Cardboard Sled Races!
Nature Up North is excited to be bringing back the Winterfest Cardboard Sled Races for a fourth year! Join us for a morning of sledding at the SUNY Canton Sledding Hill on sleds you create yourself from cardboard. Teams or individuals are invited to enter, and each sled must carry one team member. Registration and sled judging will run from 10:00 - 10:30, with the races beginning at 10:30. Sleds will be judged overall for special categories and by division for fastest time.
First Weekend Hike
Start the new year off on the right foot by getting outside with Nature Up North! Join us at Lampson Falls Trailhead at 1:00pm on Sunday, January 2nd to get active and enjoy time in nature the first weekend of the year. The trail is a very leisurely 3 mile loop, however the offshoot to the falls is short but a bit steep. Snow cover will be dependent on weather, but if necessary we have snowshoes available for use - please RSVP if you'd like to borrow a pair, otherwise feel free to bring your own!
We can't wait to get outside in 2022 with you!
Nature Walk
The last of the fall season and the beginning of winter weather definitely have us excited for the snow! Come join Nature Up North, Sunday, December 5th, for an exciting nature walk on the Kip Trail to explore the outdoors. You will learn about identifying trees without their leaves and about winter animals in the North Country. If we’re lucky we might even spot a few animals during our hike! We suggest preparing for the potential muddy and chilly weather with warmer clothing like a coat and mittens, as well as wearing appropriate footwear.
Build Your Own Fairy House
Mark your calendars North Country explorers! Do you love crafts, fairies, & good chats? Then come down to Heritage Park on Sunday, November 14th, anytime between 2:00-3:30 for fairy house making and good times. No RSVP necessary. Contact us with any questions, and see you there! :)
