Nature Up North
Creating Art with Nature
Nature gives us great inspiration for creating art - full of beautiful colors and patterns that let our imagination run wild! Join Nature Up North to take that inspiration one step further and create art from objects found in nature! We'll take a short hike down to Lampson Falls, where we'll use what we find in the environment around us to create an on-the-spot art gallery. Freshly fallen leaves, pine needles, sticks, pinecones, and whatever can be found without permanently disturbing the environment are all up for grabs as art mediums!
Taste of Fall Campfire
Come on down to Wachtmeister Field Station for a taste of fall! We'll have an assortment of fall food staples from local organizations, and there's no better way to enjoy than gathered around a warm campfire. This is our second to last campfire of the season, you don't want to miss it!
Halloween Campfire
Come get spooky with Nature Up North! Halloween is this weekend and we want to share our favorite spooky stories, play some halloween themed games, and enjoy our last campfire of the season. We'll also be joined by members of the St. Lawrence Irving Bacheller Society, who will read a short Halloween book! Wear your Halloween costume, if you dare - we will be! Bring yourself or your family, we can't wait to enjoy one more cozy fire, complete with s'mores!
Fall Foliage Campfire
Join us at the Wachtmeister Field Station September 30th at 6pm to learn why the leaves change color, share your favorite places to see the fall foliage, and enjoy a casual stroll on the Kip Trail before settling down for s’mores around a campfire! Bring yourself or your family to enjoy a relaxing evening in nature!
Community Paddle

Creatures of the Night Campfire
Have you ever wondered about the critters that come out after we go to bed, what flies, crawls, or strolls around in the dark? Join us Thursday, September 16th at 6pm at Wachtmeister Field Station for our second campfire to learn about creatures of the night! We'll enjoy s'mores, listen to owl calls, learn about bats, and more!
Ask A Fairy: The Fairies Are Back
We are SO excited to share that the fairies are back! As the leaves begin changing color and the air starts to cool, Thimble and Blossom will be making the long trip south for the winter. Through all of their woodland travels they’ve become great naturalists, talking with toads, playing with opossums, and singing with cicadas. Now, they’re here to answer any questions you may have!
You can find their houses at:
Heritage Park, Canton
Munter Trail, Potsdam
Nicandri Nature Center, Massena
