Connect with Creativity

Event date and time
July 30, 2022 - 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Connection to our North Country environment is important, and people connect to nature in very different ways. Some people like to be active, some people like to learn about the flora and fauna around us, and some people connect through being creative. This 1 and ½ to 2 hour program will explore different ways we can connect to the north country through creativity.

This event will take place on Saturday July 30th from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm at Greenwood Creek State Forest in Pitcairn, NY. We will begin the program with a short introduction about the importance of creativity as we walk down the trail. When we arrive at the main location everyone will have the chance to explore a little and find a comfortable spot where they can work. We will learn a little about the environment around us and then move into some prompted creative exercises. Once everyone has warmed their creative juices up, we will spend about thirty minutes doing free creative work. People are free to write, draw, or paint. Then at the end of the event we will take about 5-10 minutes to share how that experience was and the value we found with being creative.

Each person can choose their medium and will have an hour to create something beautiful. Nature Up North will provide paper and writing utensils/ basic arts and crafts supplies but participants are welcome to bring their own materials. Youth under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
