Jenkins mountain and deer fly species #2

We had a lovely hike up Jenkins Mountain, leaving from the Paul Smiths VIC. The first photo is the view to the south from the top of Jenkins, looking at the Saranac chain of lakes. The second photo is a beaver pond we encountered along the way, which provided a wonderful swimming opportunity for the dog. The third and fourth photos are of the same deer fly, keyed out as Chrysops mitis (a different species than the one in my earlier encounter posting). This gal got away more-or-less unscathed after the photo was taken.

Eastern Chipmunk

There is a chipmunk living in one of the offices at St. Lawrence. After taking a few pictures, it ran up to see the camera.

Small-Eyed Sphinx

I had posted the first picture before, asking if anyone knew what moth this was. The moth continued to appear overnight and, after further research, I finally figured out what it was!

Polyphemus Moth

A polyphemus moth ran into the screen on our porch. Very large and very startling.

Yellow Warbler

Baby Robin

While leaving a day at Nature Up North, I passed a robin feeding her baby in the middle of a parking lot. It probably wasn't the best place to have a baby that can't fly, but I guess the robin found it suitable.

Cedar Waxwing

Wild Turkey

Leopard Frog

In the middle of the night, I was walking back to my house, and saw a frog jump. Earlier I had posted a picture of a pickerel frog, and this was a leopard frog. A pickerel frog has squarish-shaped spots that are close together, while a leopard frog has circular spots that are far apart.
