Boy, what a catch! Too bad I got cold feet.

Thursday afternoon I got my feet wet, literally knee-deep, in the St. Regis River, just below the falls. This was my first adventure fly-fishing, and while I didn't catch any fish, I am hooked. For over 4 hours, I learned from one of my friends as well as a talented fly-fisherman, the basics. After 2 hours under his tutelage, I was let loose on the river. It was exhilarating, the prospect of emulating nature and taking the time to stop. Not only that, but the fish were brilliant! The others, experienced professionals, caught and released fish, one after the next (Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout were my favorites!). Just before the sun set, we dismantled our rods and hopped into the car. We chased the setting sun as we drove back to campus and reflected on the peaceful ending to the week. Although I didn't catch anything, I can't wait to get in the river again this week! Next time, maybe I will even catch something. Note to self: invest in waders!!
