What on Elm!

What a privilege it is to not have Friday classes! I went for a morning stroll after a delicious breakfast which took me to Avenue of the Elms. This was the first time in 4 years at St. Lawrence I had not run by without taking a deep breathe and a closer look at the environment. I took note of the beautiful morning sunlight streaming through the trees and the dew on the grass between my toes. I spotted an unusual and unfamiliar spiny plant and went to snap a picture to reference in order to identify the unknown species back in my room. Through the lens, I noticed movement and then, a green little creature looking at me! Gray tree frogs are great at blending into their surroundings. I wonder what else I would notice if I paused from the hustle and bustle of college life! Any ideas what this plant might be?
