Everyone is invited to a showing of the movie “Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch”. The movie will be shown in the Romer Room at the Canton Unitarian-Universalist Church, 3½ Main Street, in Canton.

Peter Rabbit in the Park, Canton
The Canton Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Peter Rabbit in the Park event on April 13th! There will be free activities for kids from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The Easter Egg Hunt will begin promptly at noon. Children under 6 can participate with a chance to grab up to 12 eggs. There will be a chance to win some prizes during the egg hunt as well.
Please remember to return all plastic eggs at the end of the hunt so they can be reused next year.
First day of spring at Beaver Creek state forest
It sure was the first day of spring- warmish temps, blue skies, and I saw the first buzzard and woodchuck (too quick for a photo) of the season today. This is a fun site for some light rock scrambling, but keep track of your compass & map- it's easy to get turned around. Some nice views of Beaver Creek and the ledges across the creek.

Conservation in Clay: natural history and modern threats to New York’s native amphibians and reptiles
Community members are invited to a free art and science exhibition at Launder's Science Library on the St. Lawrence campus. Enjoy ceramic sculptures featuring some of New York State’s most exciting amphibians and reptiles. Hidden inside each work is a smaller sculpture that tells the story of the animal’s ecology or causes of population declines for a truly educational exhibition.
Maple Weekends at Cornell Extension Learning Farm
Cornell Cooperative Extension Learn Farm is opening up their sugaring production for tours as part of NYS Maple Weekend! Pancake breakfasts each day 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and tours at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 4:00 pm. Plus, on Saturday 3/30 Nature Up North will be joining the fun to help with tours and talk about our citizen science project Monitor My Maple! Stop by to learn how you can get involved with local research.

During Maple Weekends, maple farms across New York State invite visitors to their “sugar houses” to experience firsthand how pure, mouth-watering maple syrup and other related products are made. Nature Up North and the St. Lawrence Land Trust invite you to join us for the 4th annual Earth Day 7K Trail Run & Walk on April 27th, 2019, at 10:00 am. One of the few annual trail races in the North Country, proceeds from this race benefit local conservation and environmental education initiatives.
