I was really excited when I was told by my professor that we were going to have a bird expert come in to give us a lecture with live birds. These kinds of birds are randomly dispersed throughout the world, but they can be found in every continent except for Antartica. They move thier head alot because they eye sockets don't move. They have soft feathers to absorb sound and their facial disk acts like an outer ear. The owl has to hole on the sides of her face to help her triangulate sounds. One interesting thing about them is that they are becoming endangered due to loss of habitat and monoculture.
