Macroinvertebrate Collecting

Event date and time
June 21, 2014 - 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Ever wonder what creatures live beneath the rocks of freshwater streams? If so, the Nature Up North Team invites you on a wet and wild adventure in the Cold Brook to search for some creeping and crawling macroinvertebrates! All sampling supplies will be provided and no previous experience is necessary. However, you will want to bring some bug spray, water, and a camera (so you can post your macroinvertebrate sightings on natureupnorth.org). We'll be outside in shallow water so you should be prepared to get wet, swimwear is great although we won't ever be deep enough to swim and old sneakers or close-toed sandals are perfect for footwear.

We will meet at the Snow Bowl State Forest roadside pull-off where there will be a Nature Up North Banner. To get there, continue approximately 1.7mi south on Rt. 56 from the bridge over the Raquette River in South Colton. The pull-off is on the right on Rt. 56.

We can't wait to see you there!
