You can help protect the hemlock tree in your region by learning how to recognize hemlock woolly adelgid and report it. Join this webinar to get involved in early detection efforts in your region and beyond and learn of beautiful trails to hike in search of HWA through an interactive story map.

Hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) is an invasive forest pest that is spreading through New York. While it has not yet been detected in the Tug Hill region, an infestation was recently confirmed on the shores of Lake George in the Adirondacks. The Lake George HWA infestation was first identified by a camper from downstate, who had HWA on their property and recognized it at the Lake George campground and reported it. This report has lead to a rapid response effort to treat hemlock trees to control the spread of HWA through the Adirondacks and beyond.
