When harvesting kale on September 15, 2015 at St. Lawrence University's Ecologically Sustainable Landscape (ESL) for a Sustainable Agricultural Systems Lab that I take part in, I discovered dozens of snails attracted to the crop. The small sized snails were light yellow and slightly translucent in coloring. This photo was taken after we had removed the snails from the kale, placing them back in the garden, so that we could harvest part of the kale. Yet, when I visited a week following this event, on September 22, 2015, to harvest more kale, these familiar creatures were still present, but not appearing to be creating much damage on the kale leaves, if at all. Has anyone else noticed these snails on their kale?
