Raquette River baby pine

The Raquette River is one of the longest rivers running from the Adirondacks. The river is also the most dammed in the state. Due to glacial recession it left the land incredibly fertile, but the land has a very very short growing season because of the cold. The problem with this is it allows a short time period for germination and growth. Which means small plants have a challenge getting started in this savage environment. The young pine tree here looked better when I took it. I feel that the blur makes it show this feeling of uncertainty about its future in this savage environment.
