Wood Frog on the trail

While walking on the cross country trails behind the athletic center at St. Lawrence University, I decided to venture towards the Grasse Rivers shore to see if I could find any creatures. As I was walking through the bit of forest between the trail and the river, I saw something from the corner of my eye jump away. Blended perfectly with the decaying and dried leaves from the previous fall, a wood frog was attempting to get away from me as quickly as possible. After a long chase and through branches and saplings, I was finally able to catch the little frog. We shared a nice moment together along the river, and then I let the frog go and went along my way.

I hope you recorded the location of this frog for our amphibian class's frog survey last fall!
