Snow

Gothics North Face - 2019 November 23

Gothics always inspires. It challenges hikers and climbers of nearly any level and draws me back at least a couple times per year. The north face shown in this video once intimidated me when I saw it from the Orebed Trail, now it's an annual retreat. I feel only relaxation and freedom once I start moving upward.

Snow at Higley Flow

Lots of snow at Higley Flow! Always nice to feel so far from campus with just a short drive, and the trails were in great shape. Caught a glimpse of the sunset too.

Snowvember

One of my favorite features of the North Country is our beautiful skies. This morning the trees are outlined with snow and the colors of the sky were gorgeous. I love the nature in my backyard!

First snow on Whiteface!

Whiteface got the first big snow of the season on October 18! We skinned up the auto road, and found around 7 inches of snow on the summit, full-blown winter up there.

Snowy Paddle

I went out for a short hike with some friends and we stumbled upon the boat and canoe in the middle of the woods. Later on we met the person who put them back there and they said the boat and canoe are for public use, just bring your own paddle. It started snowing heavily after we got there which made for some great photos.

Plenty of snow on Mt. Marcy

Still lots of snow left up high, we measured about 6 feet a mile below the summit. The trail signs are only a foot or two off the ground. Pretty good for April.

Bald (Rondaxe) Mt - Old Forge

We have been wanting to get a chance to Climb Bald Mt in Old Forge and visit the fire tower. We had perfect weather and the trail was in great shape. Plenty of views on the climb up made this a very enjoyable climb. If you are in that area or looking for a road trip- this is a good choice.

Angel Slides

A great day in the Adirondacks! Complete with a few layers of ice crust, a long flat ski out, and a lot of accidental bushwhacking. Probably the deepest snow I've ever skied in the New England backcountry.

Goodman Mt

Still plenty of snow left for snowshoeing on Goodman. This is on of the Tupper Lake triad peaks. 3.4 miles round trip, with great views of Coney Mt and Horseshoe lake.
