People in Nature

Indian Creek Bird Walk

An awesome discovery by Jake Malcomb during a bird walk at Indian Creek Nature Center.

Hungry Browns

Lots of brown trout feeding on the West Branch of the St. Regis right now. Caught and released these hungry fish on a trusty old green weenie fly.

Harvesting Ramps

The ramps (wild leeks) are flourishing at Glenmeal. We went out to harvest some on this beautiful afternoon. Can't wait to cook these up!

Earth Day Walk in the Woods

A peaceful, solitary walk in the woods on a mild, cloudy Earth day 2016.

Citizen Science Day Hike

It was a beautiful day to celebrate citizen science on a hike with Nature Up North at Indian Creek Nature Center. We saw a lot of wildlife, including frogs, snow geese, ducks, and several types of plants. We also heard a number of different birds, like woodpeckers and chickadees.

It's the sweet maple season!

It's an early season for many North Country Maple sugar producers.
I captured this bucket at Blue Heron Farm.

First Paddle of the Season

An ice-free Raquette Flow, clear skies, and temperatures near 60 made it a perfect day for the first paddle of the year.

Snowmelt at Allen Falls

The West Branch of the St. Regis was raging over Allen Falls on Saturday. It was sunny with temperatures in the 50s and only a little bit of ice remained on the trails.
