"All Things Holy": A New Rock Climbing Route on the Haystack Side of Panther Gorge
New Route created with Adam Crofoot: 505 feet, (5.7) YDS in the remote Panther Gorge!
sunset and moonrise on Coney Mtn.
Hiked up Coney Mtn. to photograph the sunset and the "super moon" - the full moon. Clouds and thunderheads forming to the west, so I didn't really get much of the moon before needing to head down the mountain. I didn't even see the moon until it was fairly high above the horizon due to the clouds. Accompanied by Tulip the wonder dog. Photos (except Tulip) are my first attempts at HDR compositions. Got back to my vehicle just as the rain started.
Great Spangled Fritillary
Saw this beautiful butterfly as we headed down the mountain. It landed on some ferns and was nice enough to pose for this picture.
Lake Placid Landscape
This is a view over Mirror Lake in Lake Placid during the fall. Lake Placid is in the heart of the Adirondacks and there are a million things to do in the area! The habitat is mostly wooded which makes it such a beautiful place to be in the fall. Climbing a high peak gives a better view, but I liked this picture because of the way the clouds are coming down and starting to engulf the mountains. The rest of the sky was completely white already, but in this view there was still some bright colored trees.
WJ Woods movement 1
I thought this picture was cool because it looks like a slow moving avalanche. This shows movement but while I was passing it, it did not move. The way this forms by the guns that blast snow. The snow accumulated on this one spot and the ice moved down due to gravity
