Canoeing / Kayaking

A dock built for two!

A beautiful morning! Can you see Colvin, Blake and Sawteeth? Three of my favorite Adirondack 46ers.

Paddling

It was a beautiful day for a paddle!

Raccoon posing for my photo

While kayaking along the shore of Lake Ozonia, I was surprised to see a raccoon as it was nearly full daylight. I took some photos of it on a log but after it crawled out of sight into the weeds, I continued to paddle. I looked back over my shoulder, and it was standing next to a tree = presumably about to climb it. I was able to get this photo before it moved on.

Loon taking off

I was kayaking back toward our camp at Lake Ozonia and was able to photograph several loons. One took to the air not far from my kayak and I was able to capture this image.

South Pond a natural wonder

South Pond - Loon exploring the entire water expanse - north, south, east and west! - Osprey calling from up high in their treetop nest. Three canoeists - Page, Dylan and Ryann - join their Dad, Connie Perry and friends.

Redwing Blackbird

The only other human around was my fellow kayaker, everything was still and calm. This male Redwing Blackbird and his mate appear to have decided that we were to close as they both showed themselves and got quite vocal. A couple photos during a few moments enjoying the sight of them and we moved on, thinking a nest might be near.

White Bog Violet

A sunny day, kayaking around the lake. There were small hillocks at one end of the lake. Once in close, I found this Bog Violet... my first encounter with this particular violet.
