Potsdam Pride
Pride Outside: Stone Valley Trail
Join Nature Up North and Potsdam Pride for a walk through Stone Valley on Sunday, July 19th at 10am!
Over the course of a couple hours, we'll explore the Stone Valley east trail, which starts at the end of Riverside Drive in Colton. During our hike, we'll talk about hydrogeomorphology, or the relation between the forces of water and its impact on rocks! At several points along the trail, rock formations are visible that are created by the Raquette River's constant flow, and we hope to explore them all.
Pride Outside Hike - Clear Pond Birding!
Join us for a hike and some virtual birding fun with Nature Up North and Potsdam Pride at Clear Pond, south of Parishville. Download the Merlin app (you'll need to make an account and then download the US Northeast bird pack) to participate in birding, or just come and hike with us! Bring water, breathable comfy clothes for the summer heat, and your longest rainbow socks to keep those ticks away. (Other long socks might work, too.) We'll meet at the trailhead at 1pm.
Exploring Fall Island
Join us for a plant walk and illustration workshop in partnership with Sara Lynch and Nature Up North. Sara has been leading workshops as part of her Exploring Fall Island project, bringing together art and ecology, and we're pleased to be part of the last event in this series.
September 14, 10am
Fall Island, Potsdam (behind Ace Hardware)
Some art supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
Hike the Red Sandstone Trail with Potsdam Pride
Join Potsdam Pride and Nature Up North for a casual hike on the Red Sandstone Trail!
Starting at the north entrance on the Back Hanawah Road, we'll walk south towards Hanawah Falls and the quarry that built much of Potsdam. Along the way, you'll also learn some history about the trail, the land, and how it is managed and maintained today.
