Exploring Falls Island through Ceramics
Enjoy a late summer's stroll through Heritage Park, in historic downtown Canton, on August 30th at 10 a.m.! Nature Up North, Grasse River Heritage, and local artist Sara Lynch will be leading an interactive exploration of the river ecology of Heritage Park. Following a leisurely walking tour, participants will be invited to make ceramic art inspired by the observations and discussions that emerge from our ecological survey experience.
Postponed! Fungi Fun in Heritage Park
Postponed due to the drought. We're going to wait until September 13th in the hope of more rain.
North Country Wild Showcase - Part 2!
Spend a morning in beautiful Heritage Park in downtown Canton learning about Nature Up North's North Country Wild (NOCO Wild) community science program!
The NOCO Wild program has the goal of studying the ways in which animals move throughout St. Lawrence County and how they behave in different habitats. We're hoping to enlist community members from across the North Country to help us answer these questions by having them take game cameras home and put them on their properties, recording the animals that are there.

CANCELED: Tracking Tracks in Heritage Park
Canceled due to weather.
Join Dan French on Sunday, Feb. 16th at 10am in the heart of Canton for a walk around Heritage Park on a hunt for animal tracks. Learn the basics of animal track identification and what we would expect to find on an island in the middle of the Grasse River.
The parking lot is not plowed in the winter, so park in the lots next to Main Street if you'd like to come! Traction devices are heavily recommended! The trail is packed and frozen from foot traffic.
Community Water Monitoring and Ecology Walk
Join Grasse River Heritage for our July Walk in the Park event - a water monitoring and ecology walk at Heritage Park with Nature Up North! We’ll walk the Heritage Park loop and talk about the ecology of the Grasse River - who lives in the river and even in the park itself! Then we’ll work together to collect data for Nature Up North's citizen science project, MOW the Grasse.
The Whimsy Walk - Grasse River Heritage
Join Grasse River Heritage to celebrate the kick-off of two months of nature related "whimsies" visiting Heritage Park!
