Virtual Flower Pressing Campfire

Event date and time
July 2, 2020 - 7:00 PM to July 2, 2020 - 8:00 PM
Event description

Join the Nature Up North team for our second virtual summer campfire event! This week’s campfire will feature a step by step guide to flower pressing and inspirational ideas for pressed flowers. This is a great opportunity to share creative ideas and learn how to preserve flowers.

Luna Moth

My fascination with Luna Moths dates back to the 70's. The beginning of summer, crystal clear nights, and the Adirondacks are all tied to these lime green beauties. This had just emerged from its pupa. It's been several years since we've seen them, so this year has been a blessing.

Ask A Fairy: Spring 2020 Answers

Thank you for visiting the fairies this spring! You had some really great questions and Thimble and Blossom had so much fun answering them. It was especially nice to stay connected while we were apart. The fairies are already up in Canada where they'll be spending the summer, but are excited to come back next fall!

Keep reading below to find Thimble’s and Blossom’s answer(s) to your question(s).

Where are you? (Renee, age 40)

Event description

Join us at this summer's first virtual campfire! This week’s campfire will feature a reading of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss and Lorax themed activities. You will also meet our new summer 2020 team and learn how playing a bingo game can help Mother Earth.

If you are able, you may want the following materials to fully participate in the activities:

Afternoon Walk in Lake Placid

Relaxing fall season walk. Colorful trees and crisp weather. Beautiful!

Newly emerged monarch

Traveled to Parishville Sand Dunes to look for insects, and in the parking lot I spotted this dark, nearly see-through chrysalis. When we came back down to the parking lot an hour later the chrysalis was gone, a little bit of searching revealed the newly emerged monarch expanding and drying its wings!

Proud Goose

Protecting her babies as I was driving by them.

Lady Slipper Elegance

Spotted one lonely Lady Slipper on our walk today.

The chase

While out kayaking these two were chasing each other around the lake I thought they were going to fly right into my kayak!
