Jr. Earth Keepers

Event date and time
April 12, 2014 - 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Celebrate Earth Day! Become a citizen scientist. Kids 5 - 12 can get "STEM-me" at the Massena Nature Center in honor of Earth Day. Take a guided hike to tally local species and learn about diversity. Kids will document findings with digital cameras, and use GPS units to mark coordinates. Each spotting will be identified by using Field Guide apps on tables and SMART phones. Following the hike, photos will be uploaded onto the "Project Noah" website and onto the Jr.Earth Keeper Facebook page.

"Project Noah was created to engage students in documenting local wildlife by uploading photos as part of a "mission". A global community can help I.D.their "spottings" which in turn can help scientists keep track of wildlife populations"
