Late Season Pollinators

A short walk in the yard led to a discovery of more than a dozen kinds of pollinators all visiting the same group of plants that were still flowering, as most others had gone dormant.

Among them, Green and Emerald Bottle flies, Bumble Bees, Calligrapher flies, a few different kinds of wasps and many others.

Unlike other times of the year, they were largely staying near the flowers and not flying much, partially because this was among the most dense patches of flowering plants left in the area and because the sun was directly on it adding warmth and vibrancy.

In all the time, none of them cared I was inches away, nor did they care they were sharing the pollen with so many others.
Well apart from one of the wasps and a bumble bee which were battling for territory by occasionally poking the other directly in the eye.
