March 21, 2014- This picture is a close-up of a fir tree along side a trail at Higley Flow State Park in Colton, NY. The trails there offer a nice journey through the densely wooded forest and there is also a sandy beach area at the far end of the park. I like this photo because you get a nice close-up of the bark on the tree but also get a glimpse of their stature and how many of them there are. Higley Flow, while a State Park is also a camping ground. The Raquette River runs along the park providing opportunities for fishing and boating. The trail system is about 10 miles long, which allows for hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter.
