Stone Valley Close-Up

(close up) Stone Valley, Colton, NY - This close up of a red pine on the trail at Stone Valley, stuck out to me because of the tree hollow. I liked how the snow clung just a little to the outside, making the hole a little more noticeable to a passerby. Tree hollow are generally found in older tress, and act as a habitat for many animals. Tree hollows can be created naturally by stress from natural factors, and then made larger by animals which can then use their beaks, teeth or claws.
