Garter Snakes Mating

We decided to take a break along the shore of Moose Pond. A mating ball had formed with perhaps 15 garter snakes in all. It largely broke up when she saw us, but the males followed as she moved along. When she stopped, they'd coil around once again. These pics show a few of those times. Photos were all taken by Deb MacKenzie.
