LANDSCAPE: This photo was taken at Garnet Hill, a x-country ski place close to North River, NY. It is protected state land with miles of groomed x-country trails and hiking/biking trails in the summer. Amongst the Adirondack mountains, it is mostly forest and woodland with a view of Thirteenth lake. There is a garnet mine close by and the tailings left over from the mining piled up and created a pond right near where this picture was taken. I really like the snow pillows that formed on this little river and the way the birch trees frame the edges of the photo.
