Rainy Spiderwebs

I took this photo on October 9, a rainy morning, and forgot to post it earlier. We had just learned about insects and spiders in class, so this caught my eye. The photo was taken outside of the townhouses on St. Lawrence campus, and I believe the web belongs to a comb footed spider. Spiders are really interesting critters and their webs are beautiful, especially when glistening with water. But I don't think I will overcome my fear of them (ahhh!)

Great idea to post your photo of the web and the photo you used to ID it. I never really thought too much about identifying spiders or their webs - usually I'm too afraid to get that close. You are right though, the webs are certainly beautiful. Thanks for sharing so I can observe from a spider-safe distance.
