Whiteface Summit from Little Whiteface

A Saturday skiing with friends during my Freshman year at St. Lawrence. It was a bluebird day and one of my first times skiing at Whiteface as a college student. This photo of the summit was taken from the top of the Cloudsplitter gondola (Little Whiteface). It remains my Facebook cover photo to this day!

Landscape 2: Azure

This was taken on a class hike on a beautiful, clear day from the peak of Azure. The hike is roughly two miles total to a summit height elevation of 2,518 feet, overlooking the Adirondak's forest and many other high peaks and ski locations. All of the valleys and ridges below we're created by shifting rock thousands of years ago. From the fire tower (which was originally built back in 1918 and restored multiple times since) one can overlook the St. Regis river.

Snowshoeing up Tooley Pond Mountain

What a great day for some snowshoeing! It was a little chilly but with the sun and 3' of snow to break trail through, we were sweating in no time. Tooley Pond mtn was a great little hike in SLC and several waterfalls along the road made the trip even better. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to try snowshoeing up a mountain for the first time or anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway.

Saddleback, Basin, and Haystack from the Garden

This was a trip of extremes for me and a friend! Hoping to end the season with a bang, we chose to take on the rugged trail that traverses Saddleback, Basin and Haystack, but the challenge alone wasn't enough - we decided to do it from the parking lot and back in a day. On paper, 18.6 miles didn't sound too terrible - but when it's on trails like this, it sure felt like 30 miles.

Winter hiking on St. Regis

While technically it isn't winter, the peak of St. Regis seemed pretty wintery to me. Such a nice winter hike for those who aren't quite ready to tackle the iced over high peaks!

St. Regis

Great hike for my dog, Nina. She loved the view and was even willing to run with me the majority of the way. Definitely a dog friendly trail!

McKenzie and Haystack

First long hike of the season and it was exhausting. I took on McKenzie and Haystack as part of my Saranac Lake 6er using the main trail. Along the way I met a couple of other 6ers who, through word of mouth, learned about a bushwhack from McKenzie to Haystack that shaved off a few miles - unfortunately the news came too late, but I'll definitely take it into account when I get around to attempting the ultra 6er. The hike offered several great views but the challenging trail up McKenzie and the conversations with other hikers were the highlights of the trip.

Marcy and Skylight from Marcy Dam

So many experiences packed into one day. We started out from our lean-to at Marcy Dam and headed up the main trail to Marcy for our first summit of the day. The views from Marcy were incredible and live up to their hype and the trail was easy going with a nice steep section of open rock perfect for a sprint to the top. After summiting Marcy, we headed to Mt. Skylight which had views just as epic as Marcy, though it was much more peaceful.

Sunset on Cascade

Made it up an old favorite of mine to watch the sunset. The bald peak offers breathtaking views and the sunset was incredible. Such a great experience to watch Cascade cast shadows down on Keene, the sun slip beneath the horizon, and the night lights flicker on in Lake Placid. Well worth the hike and chilly breeze.

Big Slide via The Brothers

Headed up Big Slide via the Brothers starting from the garden parking lot in Keene. Such a beautiful trail with amazing views along the entire way.
