Ask a Fairy: The Fairies Are Back!

Ask a Fairy: The Fairies Are Back!

By Thimble & Blossom

We are SO excited to share that the fairies are back! As the leaves begin changing color and the air starts to cool, Thimble and Blossom will be making the long trip south for the winter. Through all of their woodland travels they’ve become great naturalists, talking with toads, playing with opossums, and singing with cicadas. Now, they’re here to answer any questions you may have! September 7th through October 12th, use the clues to find our homes on trails around the North Country! To help us and you stay safe and healthy, use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on the sign next to our house. It will take you to a form where you can leave us your nature questions!

Heritage Park, Canton

Cross the bridge and then you’ll see

To the right another bridge there be

Follow that path it’s nice and bright

You’ll see a sign for a black willow on your right

Go down some stairs then up some more

From here you can see the river shore!

Then down the stairs one last time

To the left is our house, thanks to this rhyme!

Munter Trail, Potsdam

Start by the Stewart’s, then keep on the trail straight

With the river on your left pass through a vine covered gate

Count 7 big rocks all in a row

You’re almost there, don’t you know!

Just before the trail splits

Look to your left and you will see

Our lovely house hanging in a tree!

Nicandri Nature Center, Massena

Take the path to the right of the nature center.

See the pond down the hill, now the forest you'll enter!

Keep tight to the trail and you’ll cross a long bridge

Only a bit more to go, just a smidge!

By the outdoor classroom find a face in a tree

Pass by it on the small dirt path and soon you’ll see

On the ground right by beaver chewed logs

Our home! Stop here! Or you’ll end up with the frogs!

By Thimble & Blossom

Thimble and Blossom are two traveling woodland fairies who love to migrate through the North Country on their way towards the tropical forests where they spend their winter. Thimble loves spending his time exploring the tops of trees and enjoys surfing down the falling leaves in autumn. Blossom likes to spend many of her afternoons befriending bees and butterflies in the forest. She also loves to take dewdrop baths every morning while listening to morning birdsong. Because they live in the woods, Thimble and Blossom have learned a lot about North Country plants and animals throughout the years. They're very excited to share their knowledge with you!
