North Country explorer from Bloomfield, New York
This is a landscape photo of an adventure I took last year with my friends near Alexandria Bay. The bay is on the South Bank of the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands. It's a popular tourist destination because of man-made attractions like Boldt Castle, but also because of the vast expanse of undeveloped, natural land. I chose to capture this image because it represents this duality of both man-made and natural attractions in one place: the rock structures, created by the hand of a previous visitor, combined with the beautiful, natural scenery of the St. Lawrence River.
The deep and wide channels of the St. Lawrence allow lots of growing room for the fish - both population-wise and individually. There is an abundant variety of fish in the waters of the St. Lawrence, including small-mouth and large-mouth bass, walleye, and many others. Fishing is a main attraction in the area.
