Jenkins mountain and deer fly species #2

We had a lovely hike up Jenkins Mountain, leaving from the Paul Smiths VIC. The first photo is the view to the south from the top of Jenkins, looking at the Saranac chain of lakes. The second photo is a beaver pond we encountered along the way, which provided a wonderful swimming opportunity for the dog. The third and fourth photos are of the same deer fly, keyed out as Chrysops mitis (a different species than the one in my earlier encounter posting). This gal got away more-or-less unscathed after the photo was taken.
