Red Headed Woodpecker

As we pulled up to the Oneida Lake boat launch, the adult bird was on a near by tree. I could hear it calling. A juvenile bird then flew in. They both flew to a pole that had a few holes in it. The adult pulled out a large grasshopper that it looked like had been stored in the hole. The adult ate the insect as the juvenile attempted to steal bits and pieces. These are absolutely amazing birds! The red color on the head almost makes them seen unreal.
