Close up of the Ash Tree's Unique Bark

Stone Valley is a recreational area that was established by Lewis "Lew" Weeks and is know for the unique topography. The trail is abut 7.5 miles long and, along the trail, the diversity among ecosystems is very apparent. The water level of the river varies from very high with a fast and powerful current to very low with exposed river beds. This means that the trees that line the river bank have to be really resilient when it comes to tolerating flood conditions. One tree that I've seen numerous times on both sides of he trail is the ash tree. I wanted to use a close up photo of the bark because the unique diamond pattern makes the ash a fairly easy tree to identify in the winter when there are no leaves to use as an identification tool.
