Basford falls, Tooley pond road
Basford falls is located 1.4 miles from the DeGrasse end of the Tooley pond road. It's a pretty easy .7 (round trip) trail to the falls. Once you start down the hill to the falls, you'll go through some awesome white pine trees. Well worth the trip, an even better if you are going to visit the other falls on the road. For more info on these falls visit this link- they have everything you need to get you there. ............. http://www.nnywaterfalls.com/index.htm
Snowy River
I was so excited when I woke up this morning to enough snow that I needed to wear my winter boots! Snow makes everything seem peaceful and serene to me, especially when you see it falling along the edges of the water, like in this photo.
Living in a snow globe!
I awoke this morning to snow falling outside my window. I immediately jumped out of bed and dressed for an adventure. Before light, I was out on my skis, carving my own start to the week in the snow. The only sign of life were the tracks of a deer who pranced about wherever she felt moved, carefree before the plow's arrival.
Snow Came and Snow Left in Vermont
I went home for Thanksgiving Break in Castleton, Vermont. There was a weird change in weather from the beginning of vacation to the end. November 20th it was snowy and we got about 4 inches. Then about five days later it looked as if snow didn't even show up. The rain had made all the snow go away and made everything look muddy. I started my week off hiking through the snow with my chocolate lab and ended my week running on my dirt road that covered me in mud from the rain. Every time I go home from college it amazes me the view I have from my front porch.
Lowville Rock Outcrops
For one of my geology classes, we made a trip down to Lowville to study outcrops of sedimentary rocks. I loved this outcrop and how it is cut through by a beautiful waterfall. Did you know that most of the North Country was underwater while the Adirondack Mountains were being created?
Out on a hike looking for color
Gore mountain was a place that I went when I was younger to snowboard. I had never seen the mountain without snow and it looked very different. The differences were, my purpose for being there was different, there was an abundance of color and the forests were not bare. My friends and I were hiking the mountain and would stop every once and while to look at the view behind us. After a while down at the bottom there was this beautiful pond that had so many colors from the trees surrounding the perimeter that reflected back out of the water.
Fall colors at it's best`
Took a walk with my camera to check out the folliage. I was impressed with this section of the woods especially since the colors were specatulor. This land had recently been logged so it had lot of open area which enhanced the viewing. The sky was blue with big puffy white clouds which seem to bring out the colors of fall.
Bright colors of fall all in one place
Just love seeing the colors of fall with red and orange being my personal favorite.
Old Beaver Pond
This Beaver Pond never seems to amaze me as I always seem to find something that catches my eye.
