Fall Colors in the Seward Range
On a day trip through the Seward Range, I was able to encounter some beautiful fall sights in peak foliage!
Mt. Azure
A cool morning, an inviting trail, and a rugged climb led to a glorious view that was well worth the struggle.
Hiking Azure
Azure was a steep but quick hike. The view of the ponds and lakes below was fantastic, made even better with the view from the fire tower.
Giant Mountain Hike
One of the most scenic hikes that I've ever been on. Not that it was the most beautiful view that Ive ever had, although it was gorgeous, but about 20 minutes in we popped out of the tree's for a nice view. After that we had about 30 minutes before another view, but after that every five minutes we popped out of the trees onto some rocks that had amazing views!
View of the Upper Great Range
On Saturday, September 26th I hiked Nippletop and Dial in the Adirondacks. This is the view from Nippletop that shows off the beautiful Upper Great Range.
Peak Weekend Adventure to Mt. Skylight
A beautiful hike with friends up Mt. Skylight - and a crystal clear view of Mt. Marcy, the highest point in New York State! Out of all the high peaks I have done so far, I think this one might be my favorite. A long day (about 18-19 miles of hiking when you include the neighboring Gray Mountain), but a really great hike for families as the long approach makes the "High Peak" status seems manageable. So grateful to have had the opportunity to take advantage of one of the last warm clear early Autumn days to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the world!
Big Slide Foliage
Peak Weekend came at the perfect time this year - right when the foliage is beginning to peak out! Hiking up Big Slide via the Three Brothers offered so many 180 degree views of the Adirondacks in all of their glory, and the valleys are just beginning to turn shades of orange and red. From the peak, you could see where the mixed hardwood forest was most dense, and where it started to transition into more spruce-fir. I can't wait to go back in a couple weeks when it is even more colorful!
View from Lower Ausable Lake
The view of Blake and Colvin, looming over lower Ausable lake on my Peak Weekend hike up Sawteeth and Pyramid peak
Adirondack Great Range: View from Upper Wolfjaw
I ran Adirondack Great Range traverse this weekend, and encountered this spectacular view from Upper Wolfjaw of Armstrong, Gothics, Saddleback, Basin, Haystack and Marcy further down the trail. Beautiful mountains, much more rugged than I was expecting.
Manor Wildlife
Bobcat caught on the trail camera at 5:30 in the evening 100 feet from our house ~ while we were outside and heading right toward us.
